The Growing Matters Garden Program

The Growing Matters Garden program is an urban educational gardening program that provides hands-on learning opportunities for local youth.

During our educational progams, students put their hands in the soil and gain first hand knowledge about where their food comes from, how great it tastes right from the garden, and why growing organic is so important!

Growing Matters Garden Main Site

The Growing Matters Garden program currently has two garden sites. Our main site is a 6,000 square foot garden located off of North Westnedge Ave in Kalamazoo.

Woodward School GardenOur second site is the Roots of Knowledge school garden located at Woodward Elementary School for Technology and Research.

At both sites, we focus primarily on vegetable gardening (using sustainable, organic practices) but we also have areas for annual flowers, herbs, strawberries, and native flowers.

A portion of the produce from our gardens is sold at the Bank Street Farmers' Market and the People's Food Co-op!
