Eat Local, Kalamazoo!

Join us for a week-long celebration of food local to Kalamazoo and southwest Michigan!

ATTENTION EAT LOCAL CHALLENGE PARTICPANTS:
Drop off your passport (your grid does NOT have to be completely filled) to one of the participating restaurants or markets (excluding the Kalamazoo Farmers' Market) through October 7 to claim your prize. Please remember to fill in your contact information and we will enter you in a raffle. Thanks for participating and enjoy your local food exploration as the seasons change!

Southwest Michigan is home to an incredible array of food and farming experts, perfectly suited ecosystems, and sophisticated eaters looking for good food they can feel good about. To celebrate this, we have invited Alisa Smith and J.B. MacKinnon, authors of PLENTY: One Man, One Woman, and a Raucous Year of Eating Locally and creators of the 100 Mile Diet to come to Kalamazoo and share their experience and insights. The week's events will include:

  • 5th Annual Southwest Michigan Community Harvest Fest

  • A forum with the authors on social justice issues at Kalamazoo College

  • A reading and discussion at Kalamazoo Public Library

  • A panel discussion on the economic impact of shopping locally

  • and much more!
